There are no Kellys at all listed in Corglancy in the Tithe books of 1833. However, we know that Terance was renting a house from a James KELLY of Corglancy according to the Griffiths Valuations of 1857, and the 1833 books do show a James Kelly (and a Michael Kelly) of Garvagh - the next townland to Corglancy, so James could be a relation of some kind that Terance came to stay with.
DEATH: between 29 Jan 1867 and 25 Jan 1894.
He was alive on 29 Jan 1867 when his youngest child Brigit was baptised, but he is recorded as deceased on his son Patrick's wedding certificate of 25 Jan 1894. The 1901 census shows him deceased. However, a check of all available parish and civil records for Killanummery between the above dates has revealed no death of a Terance Kelly, despite the fact that the 1901 census shows Mary and the family still in Corglancy at that time.
MARRIED: There is no record of this marriage in any Co. Leitrim parish, so almost certainly Mary was from neighbouring county - marriages usually took place in bride's parish, hence no Leitrim record?
One possible theory that could account for all the above anomalies is that both Terance and Mary came from outside Co. Leitrim, and moved to Corglancy after they were married (between 1833 and 1857). If James was a relative who had moved to Corglancy this could account for Terance renting the property from him. When Terance died perhaps he was buried in his home parish in a family grave. When Mary died much later her large family was settled and thus the Kellys stayed in Corglancy. My grandmother did once tell me that she thought the family originally came from Co. Galway, so there could be some substance to this idea!
